At nearly 200 metres above the sea, the famous Manukau Heads signal station provides aweinspiring vistas, including the infamous bar (site of New Zealand's biggest maritime disaster -HMS Orpheus, 7 Feb 1863) and one of the few remaining habitats of rare Maui dolphins. Bring binoculars.
